What's New for 2027

N+2 Rule Now Covers TVET Students

The N+2 rule (funding for the minimum qualification duration plus two years) now applies to both university and TVET students. Previously, this rule only applied to university students.

Direct Payment Model

NSFAS now disburses allowances and accommodation payments directly to students and accredited providers, eliminating the intermediary layer through which overcharging and ghost bed exploitation occurred.

Mandatory Consent Form

A new consent form for Home Affairs and SARS data verification is compulsory for first-time applicants. Without it, your application will not submit.

Automated Verification & E-Signing

NSFAS has introduced automated document verification and electronic document signing to make the application process simpler, faster, and more secure.
