📘 Admission Requirements

NC(V) Programmes: Minimum Grade 9 pass or equivalent. Certified ID, latest results, proof of residence required.
NATED (N4–N6): Matric certificate (Grade 12) OR NCV Level 4.
PLP (Pre‑Vocational): For students without Grade 9.
Compulsory Pre‑Entry Placement Assessment (online).

💰 NSFAS & Tuition

NSFAS covers full tuition, allowances, and learning materials for qualifying students (household income ≤ R350,000). Annual fees: NCV R2,000–R8,000; NATED R3,500–R7,000 per trimester. Apply at www.nsfas.org.za (Aug–Nov annually).

Late & Trimester 3 Application Process

1️⃣

Check Programme Availability

Visit www.umfolozicollege.co.za or call 035 902 9501 to confirm which NATED programmes (N4–N6) still have space for Trimester 3 (August/September 2026 start). Seats are very limited.

2️⃣

Complete Placement Test

Mandatory online Pre‑Entry Placement Assessment via the college portal (ColTech). You cannot apply without a placement certificate. The test is free and can be done remotely.

3️⃣

Prepare Certified Documents

Upload certified copies (PDF only): ID, latest academic results (Grade 12 or NCV L4), proof of residence. All documents must be certified within the last 3 months.

4️⃣

Submit & Track Status

Apply via the official portal: umfolozi.coltech.co.za. No application fee. Track your application status online using your student number. Await feedback from admissions.

Admission Criteria & Entry Requirements

NC(V) Entry

Minimum Grade 9 pass or equivalent (ABET Level 4). No specific subject marks required, but basic literacy and numeracy are essential. Ideal for vocational training from NQF Level 2.

NATED (N4–N6) Entry

Matric certificate (Grade 12) OR NCV Level 4 in a relevant field. Engineering N4 requires Grade 12 Mathematics and Physical Science (at least 40%). Business N4 only needs a Grade 12 pass.

PLP (Pre-Vocational Learning)

One-year bridging programme for students without Grade 9. Successful completion leads to NC(V) Level 2. Offered at Richards Bay and Esikhawini campuses.

NSFAS Important Update

2026 NSFAS applications closed on 31 January 2026. However, Trimester 3 (August/September 2026) applicants may apply for the DHET TVET College Bursary (NSFAS) second window – typically opens in July. Contact the Financial Aid Office at Richards Bay Campus. For 2027, the NSFAS cycle starts in September 2026. Prepare parent/guardian consent forms and income proof.
